Elevate your facility's standards with comprehensive mental health services from experts with over 10 years in the field.
Operating a modern jail without a dedicated Psychiatric Department is like driving a high-performance vehicle without insurance. A single catastrophic event—a suicide, a preventable withdrawal death, or an officer injury—can lead to multi-million dollar settlements that drain county resources and end careers.
Taylored Correctional Psychiatry doesn't just offer "visits." We provide Psychiatric Governance. We shield your facility from the "deliberate indifference" claims that drive modern litigation.
We don't wait for a crisis; we prevent it. Our model treats the jail floor like a high-acuity Emergency Department.
Active Triage: We aggressively identify and medicate acute psychosis and suicidal ideation upon intake.
Clinical Autonomy: We work alongside your existing medical team as a specialized entity, managing the highest-risk inmates so your staff doesn't have to.
The "Force Multiplier" Nursing Team: Our specialized nurses are your "eyes and ears," performing suicide watch rounds and medication audits to ensure no inmate request goes unanswered.
The "pill line" shouldn't be a marketplace. We eliminate the "jail economy" by removing high-value contraband from the facility.
Zero-Narcotic Protocol: We utilize a correction-specific formulary with zero abuse potential. No benzodiazepines, stimulants, or sedatives that can be traded or hoarded.
Clinical Alternatives: Our Board-Certified leadership has mapped every high-risk medication to a safer, non-addictive alternative that provides therapeutic benefits without the security risk.
The 75% Compliance Rule: We maintain a strict accountability standard. If an inmate hoards or refuses medication, it is discontinued immediately, removing excess supply from the pods.
We believe mental health care is a right, but waste is not. Our unique fee structure protects the county budget from "frivolous" inmate requests.
Universal Access: Initial evaluations are provided at no cost to the inmate, eliminating "denial of care" legal arguments.
Behavioral Accountability: We implement administrative fees for medication waste or frivolous "revolving door" requests.
The Safety Net: Fees are never applied to the Severely Mentally Ill (SMI). We "tax the behavior" of those manipulating the system while "treating the symptoms" of those truly in need.
We speak the language of both Emergency Medicine and Correctional Safety. Led by a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and medical executive, we provide:
Multi-State Scalability: Licensed and ready to operate across multiple jurisdictions.
Standardized Emergency Protocols: From "Excited Delirium" to acute hallucinations, we provide clear medical-legal pathways that reduce the need for physical force.
A Documented "Paper Trail of Wellness": We provide the Sheriff with a "Shield of Expertise"—detailed clinical documentation that shifts the burden of proof from jail staff to medical experts.
Don’t wait for the "crash." Stabilize your population today!
Executive Governance & Clinical Leadership
CEO & Medical Director
Nicholas is a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and CEO/owner of Taylored Correctional Psychiatry. Nick has an extensive clinical foundation in high-acuity emergency medicine and trauma-informed psychiatric governance. With a career rooted in the EMS sector since 2009, he served five years as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-IV), specializing in rapid emergency response and stabilized care within a busy urban setting. Following this foundational period in field medicine, he transitioned into nursing, where his background in crisis intervention allowed him to enter a level one trauma center emergency department directly after obtaining his Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
In the psychiatric domain, he has leveraged this emergency medicine expertise to revolutionize mental healthcare within the correctional system. As a PMHNP-BC, he has exercised clinical oversight for more than a dozen jail facilities across Texas, Oklahoma, Montana, and Tennessee, managing the treatment and psychiatric governance of a combined census exceeding 10,000 inmates simultaneously. He has successfully implemented a specialized “Psychiatric Emergency Department” model that bridges the gap between acute stabilization and long-term inmate health. Nick is the founder and leader of Taylored Psychiatry, a nationwide medical group of board-certified psychiatric providers. Through this organization, he oversees the delivery of specialized mental health services to diverse populations across the United States in multiple settings. Nick also serves as Medical Director for three substance abuse facilities in Utah. There, Nick specializes in the clinical stabilization and long-term treatment of individuals overcoming addiction. His leadership in these programs ensures a high standard of care for those navigating the complexities of recovery.
Beyond clinical leadership, Nick is a pioneer in securing innovative resources for inmate care. He recently achieved a historic milestone in Oklahoma by securing a first-of-its-kind grant for the Cleveland County Detention Center. Through this initiative, he facilitated the delivery of high-cost, long-acting injectable (LAI) medications—valued at over $3,500 per injection—at no cost to the facility. This achievement marks the first time in Oklahoma’s history that a grant of this nature has been awarded to a jail facility, further establishing his role in setting the national standard for psychiatric resource allocation and innovation in correctional healthcare.
Chief Operating Officer
Heather Taylor is a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a distinguished career defined by clinical excellence, forensic expertise, and large-scale correctional leadership. With a unique dual-educational foundation—holding a Bachelor of Science in Nursing alongside a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice—Heather possesses a rare perspective on the intersection of healthcare and the legal system, making her a formidable leader in correctional psychiatry.
Heather began her clinical journey in 2011, honing her skills in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) before transitioning to a Level One Trauma Center Emergency Department. Over the course of six years in high-acuity emergency medicine, she earned prestigious TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) and Critical Care Certifications. During this tenure, she also served as the facility’s Forensic SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner). Demonstrating an extraordinary commitment to patient advocacy and legal integrity, she frequently managed complex forensic cases following grueling 12-hour shifts to ensure evidence was meticulously preserved and survivors received expert care.
Her transition into correctional healthcare was marked by immediate success. Upon joining a local county jail, her clinical acumen and leadership potential were recognized within weeks, resulting in a rapid promotion to the Health Services Administrator of the medical department. Heather was instrumental in revitalizing the facility’s operations, transforming it into a high-functioning, "well-oiled machine".
This success led to a five-year executive tenure overseeing multiple correctional facilities across two states. In this regional capacity, Heather ensured strict adherence to state compliance codes and provided critical boots-on-the-ground leadership throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. While managing these complex operations, she completed her Master of Science in Nursing to become a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
Today, Heather serves as the sole psychiatric provider for more than 15 diverse facilities across Texas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Alabama. As a specialist in correctional psychiatric governance, she leads comprehensive mental health programs and oversees complex operations, ensuring that the highest standards of psychiatric care are met within the unique constraints of the justice system.
"Cleveland County Sheriff said the jail should not be a mental health treatment center,
but something has to be done"
After years of complaints, numerous deaths in detention, and a scathing health inspection of the facility, Cleveland County’s detention center is contracting a new health care provider for the inmates.
“This new partnership reflects our continued commitment to providing quality, compassionate care to those in our custody and embracing innovative solutions that align with our values.”
- Sheriff Chris Amason, Cleveland County Detention Center
